As a destination wedding photographer, I don’t just show up with a camera. I craft unforgettable experiences for couples, and that began long before this groom-to-be dropped to one knee!
He reached out wanting to plan something extraordinary for his bride-to-be: a romantic, luxury proposal at one of the most surreal locations in the world—the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah. This location has been on their bucket list for years and their Utah roadtrip in April provided the perfect proposal opportunity! With miles of glistening white salt, a wide-open sky, and light that dances during golden hour, it was the perfect canvas for their love story’s next chapter!!
Curating a Custom Proposal Experience at the Bonneville Salt Flats
From the start, I guided him through every detail to create a moment she’d never forget. We worked together to choose the best time of day to propose—right before sunset when the salt flats glow with soft, ethereal light. It gave us the perfect setting for both intimacy and photos that feel like art.
To elevate the atmosphere, he asked if I would style the scene with bud vases holding her favorite flowers, white roses. I mixed delicate white roses and ranunculus—classic, timeless blooms that added just the right amount of softness to contrast with the vast salt flats. I also arranged a stunning bouquet for his soon-to-be fiancée, giving her something beautiful to hold in their post-proposal portraits!
A Surprise Bonneville Salt Flats Engagement Session
Once she said “yes” (and yes, there were tears!), we surprised her with a full engagement session! The newly-engaged couple danced, laughed, and soaked in the surreal beauty of the salt flats as I captured it all! That soft pastel sky and those endless reflections made for dreamy, editorial-style images that they’ll treasure forever.
